Patios and Pavers: Taking your home design up a notch
Patios and pavers are becoming trendier than ever. Don’t you hate it when your home entrance appears stale? While some of your visitors may not talk about it, others will. But in all, you need fantastic designs to improve your home and make it a perfect crib for you, your family and friends.
Often, the building costs tend to make homeowners and homebuilders pay less attention to patios and pavers. Therefore, neglecting how they can add beauty to any house. However, a well-constructed entrance improves the general appearance of your home and even raises its market value.
Lately, there are many pavers you can choose from, with each giving your home a distinctive look. You can give your home a Spanish, Italian, or even a German look just with your choice of pavers. How about adding creative designs to your home other than the usual straight driveway or red bricks?
To build a patio in your home, you may not spend as much effort and resource as you think. Ordinarily, you may want to hire a contractor for this project; perhaps, if you’re just trying to add it to an existing home. Otherwise, you can do it yourself. Get your spade, landscape fabric, wheelbarrow, pavers, concrete, plate compactor, builder’s sand, a defined length of wood to help check the levels.
Getting your pavers done
Firstly, mark out the area of the entrance you need to pave and dig a few millimeters, say 150mm. Get your wood length and check the uniformity of your excavated region. However, it should be sloppy somewhat, away from your house. Lay your concrete and ensure it is evenly spread with the sloppy side in mind, then cover with the builder’s sand.
Start laying your slabs and space them evenly while each is set firmly. Then again, convey your builder’s sand with the wheelbarrow and brush the sand over the laid pavers to ensure the joints are filled up to form an even pathway. You may want to repeat the last sand brushing process to get a more accurate result. However, it’s necessary to research and find the particular design that meets your needs or pleases you most. Likewise, cutting your pavers might seem to be a herculean task, and that’s where a hammer and bolster comes in handy. Then again, you can use the plate compactor to level your pavers better.
